DESCRIPTION:http://www.mpjc.org/\n\nSaturday, July 25, 2:30-4:30 PM\nMarriage
Equality\nEthics, Marriage and Family Therapists\nHosted by California
Therapists for\nMarriage Equality\nAs many of you are aware, there has been
an ongoing debate among MFTs regarding CAMFTʼs position of neutrality on
marriage for same-gender couples.\nWhy do some MFTs feel so strongly that
CAMFT should take a position on Marriage Equality? Is it really CAMFTʼs
ethical responsibility to take a public stand of support? The issue of
equal rights for samegender couples has been the catalyst for MFTs to
earnestly question the ethical responsibilities of the association and how
MFTs are represented in the larger mental health community.\nPlease join us
to:\n~Review what has transpired between CAMFT and members since
January\n~Discuss the effects and implications of the “Traditional
Marriage” articles published by CAMFT\nin the May/June The Therapist
magazine\n~Listen to the stories of how other CAMFT local chapters (SF and
East Bay) are responding to\ntheir membership on these issues and the
action they are taking\n~Ponder issues at stake for the profession
concerning diversity, cultural competence, and the\nloss of support by some
Universities with MFT programs\n~Participate in a discussion of ethical
issues for MFTs, the association and profession\n~Consider options moving
forward\nPlease RSVP to 415-373-0192 voicemail or to br@barbararosemft.com
If you donʼt RSVP we still want you to come but it will help if you RSVP.
