DESCRIPTION:Indigenous Delegation to Palestine\nRoots of Resistance Film
 Festival\nhttp://indigenousdelegation.wordpress.com/\nTickets: $7\n\nDid
you know that the Palestine/Israel border is built by the same company that
built the California/Mexico border? There are big differences between the
societies in the U.S. and in Palestine but there are also similarities in
both struggles. There is the struggle of keeping tradition and culture
alive. Cultrural traits relative to both countries such as: traditional
dancing, ceremonies and sacred sites are disappearing because of
colonization. In both countries there is a huge disregard towards land by
the people in power. In the U.S. sacred land is being destroyed and paved
for the “necessities” of modern life. Palestinian homes and land are
being destroyed to make way for Jewish settlements. By going to Palestine
the delegation hopes to show more than just solidarity with the Palestinian
people, we want to join the international struggle against imperialism. The
delegation is going out to support our Palestinian partners and to learn
their ways of resistance. We will bring back these experiences and share
with our communities.\n\nThe Indigenous Delegation to Palestine Invites you
to this community event to meet the delegates and see films on Native and
Palestinian struggles. A discussion is being held afterward.\n\nTHE
FILMS:\n\nFrontiers of Dreams and Fears | 58 minutes\nMona and Manar are
two Palestinian girls living in separate refugee camps in Lebanon and
Israel. They become friends over the internet and when the Israeli army
temporarily pulls out of Lebanon, the girls are able to finally meet in
person. Soon after, the Israeli-Palestine conflict re-ignites, putting both
girls' lives back in danger.\n\nChildren of Ibdaa | 27 minutes\nA look at
the lives of several adolescents in a Palestinian children’s dance troupe
from Dheisheh refugee camp in the West Bank. They use their performance to
express the history, struggle, and aspirations of the Palestinian people,
specifically the fight to return to their homeland.\n\nCeremony Comes Home
 | 22 min\nThe Winnemem Wintu Tribe is fighting the U.S. Forest Service for
access to one of their sacred sites along the McCloud River, south of Mount
Shasta. The film shows a ceremony along the river honoring “coming of
age” for young women that sets the tribe’s foundation of
existence.\n\nWhen Your Hands Are Tied | 56 min\nA documentary film that
explores the unique ways in which young Native Americans are finding to
express themselves in a contemporary world while maintaining strong
traditional lives.\n\n**\n\nIf you wish to donate to the delegation we have
set up a Facebook Causes page where you can donate:
