DESCRIPTION:The Reckoning keeps you on the edge of your seat as you follow charismatic
International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, issue
arrest warrants for the rebel leaders of the Lord's Resistance Army in
Uganda, put Congolese warlords on trial, charge the President of Sudan with
genocide and war crimes in Darfur, and challenge the U.N. Security Council
to have him arrested for the atrocities he has committed. Moreno-Ocampo's
job is tireless and frustrating; he has a mandate but no police force. At
every turn, he must pressure the international community to muster the
political clout to act against the genocide in Darfur. \n\nThe Reckoning is
the story of two moving and powerful dramasÑthe horrors of the genocide in
Darfur and the prosecution of those who committed them and the ICC's fight
for justice in its start-up years. Will this tiny court in The Hague be
able to tame international conflict zones with very little political clout?
Will Moreno-Ocampo succeed? \n\nJoin us for light refreshments and a
discussion with Mohamed Suleiman, a native of Darfur, following the
screening. \n\nSuggested donation: $5-10 sliding scale at the door
\n\nPlease RSVP to info@darfursf.org by July 20th due to building security
 check-in \n\n\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2009/07/08/18606290.php
