DESCRIPTION: On July 7, 20009 the Assembly Water Parks and Wildlife Committee will hold 
 a hearing on proposed Delta legislation in Room 4202. The hearing is 
 scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. We are asking all our supporters to show 
 up at the Capitol as early as possible to make our presence known.\n\nWhy 
 is it so important to be at this hearing? Remember how we ended up with 
 energy deregulation in California? We are headed down the same path of bad 
 public policy decisions that could prove to be very costly for California's 
 taxpayers. A water bond worth $10 to $25 billion is hard to accept when one 
 million children are losing health insurance and the State is beginning to 
 issue IOU's.\n\nThe Delta Solutions bill/bills will not be made public by 
 the State Senate until tomorrow - or so we have heard. That gives the 
 public only one week (with a holiday in between) to examine what they are 
 proposing for the future of the Delta. It is very possible this will be the 
 one and only hearing for us to make comments on policies that could 
 permanently shape the Delta's future, including the peripheral 
 canal.\n\nThis political maneuvering is public policy formation at its 
 worst - on one of our most important state issues, the management of water. 
 It is time to let our legislators know that we want real solutions to break 
 dependence on Delta water exports and that the Bay Delta Conservation Plan 
 in its present form is unacceptable to the people of the Delta.\n\nThat is 
 why we are asking all our Restore the Delta supporters to plan on attending 
 the Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee Hearing on proposed Delta 
 bills on July 7, 2009 at 9 a.m. in Room 4202. Be sure to arrive as early as 
 possible. And because the details on the hearing and legislative proposals
