DESCRIPTION:Measure K was passed by 64% of the voters in 2006. Since then it has been
crippled by City Council hostility, staff negligence, city attorney and PD
intervention, and the failure of activists to challenge the
situation.\n\nfor an account of the last meeting (six months ago) see "Rump
Measure K Committee Excludes Public Comment, Loses Audio Tape" at
 http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2009/01/19/18564535.php Also note the
comments following the article.\n\nMake sure you show up at 5:30 PM sharp
or before. The Chair is supposed to allow public comment during Oral
Communications at the beginning and during each agenda item. \n\nLast time
she violated the Brown Act by not allowing this. \nStaff member Tina
Sholl did not respond to a demand that this be corrected (see article
above). If more people are there, the chair will probably be more
careful.\n\nAs I reported in the above story, at the last meeing I was
initially locked out. When I got in the Chairperson refused to allow me
to speak at the Oral communications period (which she had glided past--in a
room empty of audience as I pounded on the door). \n\nAnita Henri has
struggled for several years to make this committee, the PD, and the City
Council follow the will of the voters. She can't do it alone. To support
action to change the situation giver her a call at 425-3444.\n
