DESCRIPTION:6/18 SF Picket To Defend Fired Union Housekeeper Esther Dominguez\n\nFired
Local 2 Esther Dominguez was supposed to have an arbitration on June 18,
2009 but the management cancelled it and want to starve her some more.
There will be a picket at the Grand Hyatt at Stockton and Sutter on
Thursday June 18 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the hotel\n\nRehire Esther
Dominguez Now! \nStop Harassing & Firing SF Hotel Workers \nInformational
 Picket \nJune 18th (Thursday), 2009 \n3:00 PM to 5:00 PM \nAt SF Grand
Hyatt \nStockton St. & Sutter St. \nSan Francisco \nSan Francisco hotel
owners are getting ready for a strike and are firing union activists who
are standing up\nfor the members. One of the Unite-Here Local 2 members who
has been recently terminated is Esther Dominguez\nwho worked as a
housekeeper at the Grand Hyatt on Union Square for over 33 years. She was
fired on\nJanuary 31, 2009.\nShe was framed up and fired on fabricated
charges. Last year, she defended housekeepers at the \nhotel who had been
mistreated with their senority ignored and management did not forget her
act \nof solidarity. She was supposed to have an union arbitration on her
case on Thursday June 18 but the\nmanagement lawyers cancelled it and said
they were not "ready". This means that Esther continues\nto be out of
work.\nAt the same time management has tried to arrest Esther for
peacefully picketing on the sidewalk in\nfront of the hotel. Manager David
Nadelman has called the police on her and tried to stop her
from\npicketing. This attack on democratic rights by Nadelman and the
management is another example of\nhow they treat union members. They
claimed the "sidewalks" belong to the hotel but this is not true.\nWe need
to let management know that the working people of San Francisco will not
allow this \nanti-labor management to run roughshod over worker and human
rights. Housekeepers have one \nof the most difficult jobs in the hotel and
many housekeepers are injured on the job due to the large \nnumber of rooms
they must clean and also the new beds, which are difficult to move. \nHotel
management cannot be allowed to intimidate and terrorize workers who stand
up for their \nrights on the job! Labor Rights Are Human Rights. \nThe
Local 2 Committee to Defend Fired Workers is calling on hotel workers and
all working \npeople to call SF Grand Hyatt manager David Nadelman at (415)
398-1234 and let him know that \nEsther Dominguez should be rehired now!
