DESCRIPTION:PRESS RELEASE\n	\nVoice of the People vs. Violation of Probation \n \nVOP
 vs. VOP\n \nThursday June 4, 2009 between the hours of 12:00 p.m. until
3:00 p.m., VOP will host Constitution Day on the New Haven (City of Yale
University) Green, in the Constitution state of Connecticut. This event is
in commemoration of the upcoming JUNETEENTH holiday\nJuneteenth was a
holiday instituted by Black-Americans in Texas, when they learned on June
19, 1865-- two and one-half years after the Emancipation Proclamation
issued--that they were free. \nThis deprivation of liberty outside of the
Constitution then serves as our example now.\nFrom this platform, we seek
to bring attention to the U.S. Constitution that protects our rights and
freedoms and the Connecticut laws that attempt to deprive its citizens of
them. This year we will focus on the oppressive laws that incarcerate
Connecticut citizens at an astounding rate, in particular its
Black-American and Hispanic citizens. Like JUNETEENTH, the United State
Constitution guaranteed the right, the Emancipation Proclamation reinforced
it but it was only after this right was declared openly and heard by all,
that this freedom was actually exercised and protected. \n\nCOME JOIN
 US!!\n\n\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2009/06/04/18600392.php
