DESCRIPTION:More than 3 thousand teachers, elected leaders, educational and retirement 
 organizations, and community members will rally for Social Security 
 Fairness. \n\nPurpose of rally: \nTo inform, and unite.  We are demanding 
 repeal of two provisions in Federal Social Security law— the Windfall 
 Elimination Provision and the Government Pension Offset (WEP & GPO)— that 
 prevent second-career public servants from collecting earned Social 
 Security Benefits when they retire or when a spouse dies.\n\nIn the state 
 legislature, Assemblymember Tom Torlakson (D-Antioch) is carrying AJR 10 
 “The Social Security Hero’s Penalty Resolution” to urge Congress to 
 support legislation authored by Rep. Howard Berman and Senator Diane 
 Feinstein to eliminate the public servant penalty.\n\n\nSPEAKERS:
