DESCRIPTION:HOPIUM: CONFRONTING FASCISM IN THE OBAMA ERA\n\nAn evening of radical
films with subMedia's Franklin Lopez\naka the stimulator\n\nFriday May
 29th, 8pm at SubRosa, 703 N. Pacific Ave.\n$5-$10 suggested donation (no
one turned away)\n\nAn evening of radical films including:\n\n-Excerpts
from a film in production called "END:CIV. END:CIV is the first feature
film to analyze our culture's addiction to systemic violence, industrial
capitalism and environmental exploitation, as evidenced by the current
epidemic of poisoned landscapes and shell-shocked nations. Based on the
best-selling book by Derrick Jensen, and the runaway success of director
Franklin Lopez, END:CIV asks: if your homeland was invaded by aliens who
cut down the forests, poisoned the water and air, and contaminated the food
supply, would you resist? This showing is also a fund raiser for continued
production of this project.\n\n-GROUND NOISE & STATIC- A video report on
the protests that occurred in connection with the Democrat and Republican
National Conventions. Ground Noise & Static is a manifesto. We went to
Denver and St. Paul to take the pulse of the movement. Corporate media
would cover the platitudes and posturing of the politicians, we were
interested in something else, a story hidden in plain sight, captured in
the now-classic street chant, "This is what democracy looks like."\n\n-Plus
other short films and mashups, including excerpts from the radio/web/TV
show \n"It's the End of the World as We Know It and I Feel Fine".\n\nPlease
join subMedia founder, director and producer Franklin \nLopez(aka The
Stimulator) as he steps out from behind the \ntalking boxes to tour us
through a video montage of his \nlatest works, mixing culturejamming, news,
 radical \ncommentary, music and action.\n
