DESCRIPTION:Wednesday, May 13\n12 Noon & 7p.m. (Potluck at 6:30) \nVideo
Presentation: “Encounter Point” at the Fresno Center for Nonviolence,
1584 N. Van Ness. This film is about a Palestinian ex-prisoner, a former
Israeli settler, a bereaved Israeli mother and a wounded Palestinian
bereaved brother, who risk their lives and public standing to promote a
nonviolent end to the conflict. Their journeys lead them to the
unlikeliest places to confront hatred within their communities. This film
explores what drives them and thousands of other like-minded civilians to
overcome anger and grief to work for grassroots solution. And why is it,
with the world’s camera focused on this conflict, we have never heard of
them? It is a film about everyday leaders in our midst. Ultimately, the
strength of this film does not lie in its hopeful presentation of the
group’s aims but in its accurate rendition of the group members with all
their human sadness, determination and naivete. Their stories, Israeli and
Palestinian, are heart rending. Wheelchair accessible. FREE. For info:
