newest and greenest home for nonprofits. Drop in for a day full of live
music, family activities, great food, lectures, and
documentaries.\n\nExplore the relationship between creating social equity
and sustaining the environment. Hear about local farms and healthy rivers
around the world. From carnivorous plants to a solar telescope, climbing
Mount Whitney to drawing nature, this is a chance to celebrate nature and

\n\nThe nonprofit David Brower Center is a vibrant place that inspires,
sustains, and brings together people committed to environmental and social
action. The Center offers educational and arts programs, stunning
conference and event facilities, and high-quality office space for
nonprofits -- all in the greenest building in Berkeley. It is named to
honor David Brower, a Berkeley native who many consider the father of the
modern environmental movement.\n\nThe Center will house innovative
nonprofits and green businesses, including the Center for Ecoliteracy,
Earth Island Institute and International Rivers. It also will offer the
areaÕs best event spaces including the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Theater,
a gallery, a restaurant, meeting rooms, and collaborative common space for
tenants.\n\nThe building – made with more than 50% recycled materials and
anticipating a LEED Platinum rating – boasts 50,000 square-feet with the
greenest of green architecture, including non-toxic materials; recycling of
rainwater; natural daylighting and ventilation; and solar panels. Under one
photovoltaic roof in the heart of Berkeley, activists, business people,
students and visitors from around the world will meet, eat, exchange ideas,
and work toward a just and ecologically sustainable society.\n
