DESCRIPTION:Green Gulch Farm & Zen Center Beginning Beekeeping, Part IV: Preparing
 Honeybees for Winter \n\nThe honeybee season will be coming to an end soon
 and we must prepare our bees now for a time of limited bloom. Many
 beekeepers lose colonies during the wintertime and it is usually because of
 poor preparation. This workshop will focus on practices that will better
 ensure the health of the hive. The following topics will be discussed and
 demonstrated: how much honey to remove before winter; how much honey to
 leave for the bees; disease and mite control; checking the health of the
 queen; introducing a new queen; splitting the hive; combining hives;
 feeding; and weatherizing the hive and its surroundings. A vegetarian lunch
 is included in the cost of registration. Wear light colored clothing and
 bring a veil if you have one. Children welcome. Meets on Pool Deck.
 \n\nFee: $30\nClick on link to register.\n
