 campus).         \n \nProgram Information:\nSC Baroque Festival's Concert 
 II, The Natural Mandolin, brings the versatile and sought-after mandolin 
 artist Caterina Lichtenberg to Santa Cruz in a concert showcasing the 
 classical intersections of the instrument's history and travels. A member 
 of the lute family, the mandolin originated in 1600s Italy. It became 
 popular in mid-1700s Paris, found its way to Vienna by 1800, and on its 
 travels through Europe influenced a number of well-known baroque and 
 classical composers, such as Vivaldi, D. Scarlatti, Mozart, Beethoven, 
 Hummel, and Paganini. By the 20th century it had become a well-loved folk 
 instrument, featuring in American bluegrass and other styles.\nA performer 
 as adaptable and charismatic as her instrument, Caterina Lichtenberg has 
 appeared worldwide as performing and workshop artist, showcasing the 
 instrument's folk and classical music capabilities alike, as soloist and in 
 various ensembles. Originally from Bulgaria, she now holds the only 
 professorship of mandolin in Europe at the Cologne University of Music in 
 Germany.\nFor the SC Baroque Festival Ms. Lichtenberg will appear in 
 concert with Mesut Özgen playing 19th-century and modern guitars, as well 
 as Linda Burman-Hall on harpsichord and fortepiano, together providing an 
 evening of musical time travel with the mandolin at the center.\n \nIn 
 addition to the concert, an exclusive artist dinner with Ms. Lichtenberg 
 and Mirko Schrader will be hosted by SCBF on Friday, March 13. This event 
 is a pre-concert fundraiser with limited reserved seating only. Contact the
