DESCRIPTION:Hi all,\nThis coming Friday there will be a talk at noon on the 
 humanitarian crisis in Gaza by Dr. Jess Ghannam in HSW-303 sponsored by 
 SHPSR. Ashraf and I helped put this event together and wanted to have it as 
 soon as possible given its timely nature. Please help us get the word out! 
 The announcement is below.\nBest,\n-Jesse and Ashraf\n\nThis Friday from 
 12-1pm Dr. Jess Ghannam will give a talk entitled "Health, Human Rights, 
 and Social Responsibility: The Humanitarian Situation in Gaza". This talk 
 will focus on the devastating health consequences the recent outbreak of 
 violence has had in The Gaza Strip, as well as the effects on 
 infrastructure and the current situation in Gaza. This event is sponsored 
 by Student Health Professionals for Social Responsibility. The goal of this 
 event is not to assign blame for the recent escalation of the conflict to 
 one side or the other, but rather to emphasize and focus on the 
 humanitarian toll that the fighting has placed on civilians.\n\n"Health, 
 Human Rights, and Social Responsibility: The Humanitarian Situation in 
 Gaza"\nFriday 1/23 12-1pm\nHSW-303\n\nDr. Jess Ghannam is Clinical 
 Professor of Psychiatry and Global Health Sciences at the University of 
 California, San Francisco. Dr. Ghannam specializes in working with chronic 
 illness, including chronic pain and cancer. He also works and does research 
 in the area of Global Health and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and 
 frequently travels to the Middle East for this work, including a recent 
 trip to the Gaza Strip. He has traveled to Gaza some 40 times in past 10 
 years and has set-up community health clinics there and in the West Bank. 
 Currently he is also working with a group of international human rights 
 activists trying to establish rehabilitation centers for Guantanamo
