DESCRIPTION:Celebrate an exciting turning point in American history this month by
joining The Watershed Project on Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of
Service. Come out with your family, neighbors and friends and be a part of
this festive and inspirational event. \n\nGive back to our community by
helping to clean up the shoreline and care for one of Richmond’s lovely
waterfront parks. There will be opportunities to plant and tend to drought
tolerant and wildlife friendly gardens, control invasive weeds, and create
collaborative art sculptures by reusing collected trash, debris and weeds.
You can learn about native plants and their many uses, join the fennel
patrol, and tally trash to take a snapshot of what is polluting our Bay.
\n\nMake Martin Luther King Jr. Day a day on rather than a day off. Spend a
few hours honoring the memory of Dr. King by taking action to improve our
community.\n\n“The Watershed Project hopes the cleanup will be a catalyst
for instilling a stewardship ethic in participants,” says Linda Hunter,
Executive Director of The Watershed Project.\n\nFree refreshments will be
served, and tools and gloves will be provided. However, please bring your
own if you have them--especially loppers for removing fennel--to make sure
everyone gets a chance to pitch in. Please wear comfortable clothing and
sturdy shoes. Children must be accompanied by an adult.\n\nEvent Partners:
The Watershed Project, Richmond Shoreline Citizen Response, City of
Richmond, and local artists.\n\nFor more information, contact Juliana
 Gonzalez at (510) 665-3597 or email juliana@thewatershedproject.org\n\n
