 present Leo Cerda, an indigenous student activist from Ecuador, as he tours 
 the United States to share the horrors of oil industry exploitation and the 
 exciting resistance against it taking place in the Andean region.\n\nPlease 
 join us at Station 40: 3030B 16th Street (at Mission) on Sunday Dec. 21 at 
 6pm.\n\nBelow is a brief bio of Leo and a bit more of what to 
 expect!!!\n\nLeonardo Cerda is an indigenous youth activist from Ecuador 
 focusing on issues related to climate, energy and sustainability.\n\nLeo's 
 worked with resistance movements against the oil industry in Ecuador since 
 he was fourteen years old.\n\nHe and others in his community conduct 
 workshops\naround the Amazon in different indigenous villages, discussing 
 the causes and the future consequences of the oil industry, it's 
 relationship to climate change, and the many other devastating effects on 
 people and the environment.\n\nLeo works on issues related to environmental 
 protection, preserving indigenous people's land and their cultural 
 identities, buying local organic products, and maintaining 
 cooperatives.\n\nCurrently, Leo is part of an organization called FAOICIN 
 that is running a campaign to promote sustainable projects as a means for 
 communities, associations, and other indigenous social actors to fight oil 
 companies and promote the recovery of ancestral customs.\n\nLeo is studying 
 International Relations and Political Science at the Universidad San 
 Francisco de Quito in Ecuador, where he heads the human rights 
 club.\n\nHe'll be discussing his communities' work in Ecuador, the damage 
 done by the oil industry, and efforts to build a more just, sustainable 
 society in Ecuador.\n
