DESCRIPTION:Colleagues,\n \nDuring a recent press conference in Sacramento, Governor 
 Schwarzenegger said the size of the budget deficit grows by $28,000 every 
 minute the Legislature fails to act.\n \nIt's possible that the legislature 
 will make budget cuts and increase student fees to balance the budget.\n 
 \nWe need to protect student access and success by stopping mid-year cuts 
 and student fee increases to the most valuable segment of California's 
 higher education system. \n \nThe state-wide fax day will be Wednesday 
 December 17th, 2008 beginning at 10 AM.\n \nBrief the students at your 
 college and in your region ASAP. They should make a roster of students who 
 will actually be operating the fax machine that day, it's important that 
 the event last all day. \n \nConsider getting one student to commit to half 
 of an hour. During that half hour the student will be responsible for 
 sending as many letters and petitions as possible. You will target your 
 locally elected legislators which you can find by entering the zip code 
 from your college at http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/yourleg.html additionally we 
 absolutely need to target members of the Assembly and Senate Budget 
 Committees.\n \nIn the morning on Tuesday the 16th you will receive an 
 email with the signatures from the online petition in a .PDF attached. This 
 document is going to be a few hundred pages long. Print it out. In addition 
 you will find a list of the members of the Legislature and their fax 
 numbers print this out as well. With your collected letters and the 
 petition you should be able to send a strong message to our elected 
 officials.\n \nDuring the day keep a tally of how many faxes you send and 
 who you sent them to. That information needs to be consolidated so that we 
 can gauge participation and success.\n \nThe key will be the participation 
 of every college. This information needs to be passed to every student in
