 www.freshmeatproductions.org \n \n \n \nTranny Fest, the transgender film
festival is back offering up short underground films and live performances
by transgender and genderqueer artists. Everything from the taboo to the
profane to the drag-tastic power of mascara to creative use of body fluids:
 November 6th, 7th and 8th at Mama Calizo’s Voice Factory. Co-presented
with Fresh Meat Productions, this year, Tranny Fest proves it’s not
always about size: all films are 10 minutes or less.\n \nNovember 6th:
Trannyfest Live! \nGender bending tap dancers, maverick performance artists
and kink chasing rock n’ roll adventurers collide in this one-night-only
performance event. Featuring Twincest, Storm Florez, Butch Tap, Carrie
Baum, Tranny Fest Artistic Director Shawna Virago and more!\n \nNovember
7th and 8th: Tranny Fest Film Festival\nThe Festival opens November 7th
with Gender Apocalypse, a collections of short films that obliterate the
two-party gender system. The Festival continues November 8th with Pocket
Rockets, a second shorts program exploring love, lust and other fun things
to do alone or with a buddy. \n \nFilm Festival Highlights:\n- Keynote
Address, directed by SF’s very own provacateur Annie Danger, explores the
creative uses of saline solution; \n- Fagette, directed by Ali Cotterill
(of Athens Boys Choir fame) is a trans-fabulous Sunday in the park gone
gay. Croquet, naughty cheerleaders and synchronized dancing all in an
astro-turf wonderland.\n- L1FE, directed by Aarin Burch stars trans hip-hop
heartthrob Joshua Klipp. \n \nTranny Fest, established in 1997, is the
world’s first transgender/genderqueer film festival and emerged for the
same reason so many marginalized communities have organized film festivals:
the absence of authentic representations of transgender lives and
experiences in the mainstream commercial media. In the 11 years since,
Tranny Fest has remained defiant, proudly programming outside the box,
exhibiting groundbreaking, provocative, outrageous, courageous, moving and
innovative works that show the complexity of lives lived on the
 transgender/genderqueer spectrum. \n \nShawna Virago is celebrated as a
trans pioneer in music, filmmaking and activism. Miss Virago is a
roots/rock songwriter whose music twists together insurgent punk roots rock
and insurgent country, creating anthems for a new generation. Miss Virago
is one part poetess, one part ice queen and one part punk rock glamour
girl. \n \nThe Festival’s co-presenter, Fresh Meat Productions, is an
award-winning leader in the creation and presentation of Bay Area
 transgender and queer arts.\n \n\n\n
