DESCRIPTION:FILM SERIES \nVegas Highs, Vegas Lows \nDecember 20–27 \nPhyllis Wattis
Theater \n\nLas Vegas is a topsy-turvy world that seems to defy taste, a
world where what’s bad is good, and what’s good is bad. The same goes
for more than a few films about Vegas. In this series, what would normally
be taken as a vacant spectacle suffering from an existential crisis reveals
itself to be a unique cinematic gem that epitomizes the peculiar character
of the place itself. In conjunction with Double Down, SFMOMA presents some
of the high points of Las Vegas film—and some low points that became high
points, given time.\n\nExperimental Shorts \nCurated by Steve Anker, dean,
School of Film/Video, California Institute of the Arts \nSaturday, December
27, 3 p.m. \n\n$5 general; free for SFMOMA members or with museum admission
(requires a free ticket, which can be picked up in the Haas Atrium). Double
features: films offered on the same date are included in one ticket.\n\n
