DESCRIPTION:This event is being organized by the California Food and Justice
Association and is co-hosted by the Oakland Food Connection, OBUGS,
People's Grocery, Alemany Farm, Urban Tilth, Hope Collaborative, City
Slickers Farm, Farm Link, Mo' Better Food & Full Circle Farm. \n\n$20
 Members, $40 Non-Members (Scholarships available)\nRegister online at
www.cafoodjustice.org \n\nIf we are to build the thriving,
community-driven and fair urban agriculture system we need we must have
land.\n\nJoin us for a day of information, sharing and discussion on how we
can secure land for food production to increase access to healthy food for
all, including low-income/food stamp eligible communities. \n\nThe issue
of land access is of critical importance. Growing food in the city has
enormous potential to increase access to healthy food, create green collar
jobs and other economic opportunities and build community self reliance.
Securing sustained access to land for food production is one of the most
challenging and important steps for almost all urban and suburban
agriculture projects. \n\nTopics to be covered in the workshop include:
accessing public and private land, zoning and planning laws, community
organizing strategies and easements and policies we can pass to help grow
urban agriculture.\n\nThe California Food and Justice Coalition is a
statewide membership coalition committed to the basic human right to
healthy food while advancing social, agricultural, environmental and
economic justice. Through advocacy, organizing and education, we
collaborate with community-based efforts to create a sustainable food
supply for the residents of California.\n
