DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday, November 11 at 7:30 PM, economist Dr. Jack Rasmus will speak on
"America's 3-D Economy: Debt, Deflation, Defaults" and the emerging Global
Epic Recession. Dr. Rasmus will also be available that evening to sign his
latest book, "The War at Home," which details the corporate offensive from
Ronald Reagan to George W. Bush, and the economic legacy of the Bush
years.\n\nThe timing of Dr. Rasmus' talk, immediately after the
presidential election, will offer fertile ground for outlining the economic
program of whoever wins on Nov. 4th. Also, here is an opportunity for an
in-depth examination of the crisis facing Wall Street and what it all means
for Main Street.\n\nJack Rasmus, Ph.D., is a political economist and author
of several books on the U.S. economy. His works include the aforementioned
"The War at Home," and a forthcoming book, "The Trillion Dollar Income
Shift - Essays on Income Inequality in America," about the origins and
causes of that inequality.\n\nDr. Rasmus is also a freelance journalist,
writing widely on U.S. economic and domestic policy topics, and has
published numerous articles in Z Magazine, In These Times, and other
periodicals. He is also an author of several stage plays, including "1934,"
a musical about the San Francisco waterfront during the 1934 maritime and
general strikes, and "Lockout," about contemporary labor
conflicts.\n\nBefore undertaking a writing and speaking career, Dr. Rasmus
was an economist and markets analyst for a number of years with various
companies; also an elected National 1st Vice President for the National
Writers Union, and an elected local union President, business
representative, and organizer for several labor unions, including the
Communications Workers of America, Service Employees International Union,
Hotel and Restaurant Workers Union.\n\nJoin us at Beck Hall, Unitarian
Universalists, 300 Santa Inez Ave., San Mateo. Admission is free; Beck Hall
 is wheelchair accessible.\n
