DESCRIPTION: The Hungry Owl Project is thrilled to announce our fourth annual
“Evening with Owls” event at the Marin Art & Garden Center in Ross.
We’ll have owl stories, short educational talks, a silent auction
featuring fine art and photography donated by local artists, the
opportunity to purchase gifts for the holidays AND you’ll meet the stars
of the show - live owls! We’ll share information and see photos from this
year’s activities. Mingle with other owl enthusiasts, nibble, drink
wine, have fun - and leave with a sense of wonder. Join us for an after
dinner event featuring savory and sweet treats accompanied by excellent
local wine and other beverages. All food and drink will be served in and on
biodegradable products. This event is a fundraiser to continue our work
with schools and the public. Reservations are $75 per person. \nAn
entertaining presentation will be given by the dynamic Joe Mueller, College
of Marin Biology Professor Extraordinaire & Winner of the 2008 Terwilliger
Environmental Award. Our featured owl this year is the Burrowing Owl a
species of special concern here in California. Our special guest speaker
is Jack Barclay, Senior Wildlife Biologist at Albion Environmental,
Inc.\nLeslie Harlib, of the Marin Independent Journal called this an
evening “rich in edu-tainment; slide shows, lectures and demonstrations
that helped us all understand how valuable owls can be.” \nThe mission of
the Hungry Owl Project is to reduce the need for harmful pesticides and
rodenticides by encouraging natural predators, through conservation of
habitat, erecting nest boxes when appropriate, through research and
education, and providing a resource of help and information on alternative
methods of sustainable pest management.\n\nThe Hungry Owl Project is a
 program of WildCare (www.wildcarebayarea.org ), a non-profit wildlife
hospital and education center in San Rafael which serves the San Francisco
 Bay Area. \n\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2008/10/09/18543905.php
