DESCRIPTION:Martin Luther King Jr. observed that, “You have no influence over people
 who can sense your underlying contempt.” Yet how can we be free of
 contempt when we’re certain the beliefs and actions of another group or
 person are harmful and “wrong”? In this workshop, drawing on the
 principles of Nonviolent Communication, we will begin to explore how we can
 “speak truth to power” in a way that others can hear us---even\nwhen
 they may have opposing views we find inaccurate, harmful, and challenging.
 Well be looking at: Red state/Blue state; gay marriage on the ballot;
 Issues "that divide us".\n\nWith guest Dian Killian, PhD, a CNVC Certified
 Trainer, founder and director of Brooklyn NVC and the Facilitate Change
 program and co-author of Connecting across Differences: A Guide to
 Compassionate, Nonviolent Communication and Urban Empathy: True Life
 Adventures of Compassion on the Streets of New York. A lifelong political
 activist and writer, Dian brings insights, inquiry, and interest to these
 current HOT topics.\n\n\n
