 SF\n\n \n\nThis benefit for the Puerto Rican teachers union FMPR will 
 screen two films "Operation Bootstrap" and Plena For Work, Plena for Song 
 both by Pedro Rivera and Susan Zeig\n\nPuerto Rico’s 40,000 teachers are 
 under attack by the government and the SEIU international who are seeking 
 to raid the union. The FMPR went on strike against privatization and 
 stopped the introduction of charter schools. In response with the support 
 of SEIU, the government is seeking to destroy the union and preventing it 
 from running in a representation election. This union elects all it’s 
 officials and staff and also has a term limit for it’s officers. Unlike 
 US business unionism they put the interests of the working class first and 
 this is an important reason for the attack by the SEIU International. We 
 will have speakers, music and discussion. \n\nPresident of the FMPR Rafael 
 Feliciano and FMPR Vice-Presidente, María (Chaíta) Meléndez will attend. 
 They will provide an update on the raid against their union by the SEIU 
 International and their struggle to defend the teachers of Puerto Rico.\n\n
