 Taiko drumming group will present its 17th anniversary performance titled 
 “HIMATSURI” or “FIRE FESTIVAL” on October 11 and 12, 2008. Santa 
 Cruz’s sister city in Japan, Shingu, is renowned for its fire festival 
 which celebrates the harvest based on Shinto beliefs. Using the art of 
 Taiko drumming, Watsonville Taiko, in participation with Shinsho Mugen 
 Daiko and Sandoshin Taiko, will portray the energetic spectacle of the Fire 
 Festival of Japan.  This production of original compositions and 
 choreography showcases the art of Taiko, combining elements of dance, 
 martial art, rhythm and music into a moving experience.\n
