 presentation on how San Francisco-based groups are responding to\nthis 
 political challenge.\n\n\n\n   * Ideas for how you can help defend 
 immigrant youth and families and\nthe Sanctuary 
 Ordinance\n\n\n\n\n\nBackground:\n\nRecently, San Francisco's Sanctuary 
 Ordinance has come under attack\nafter media reporters criticized San 
 Francisco's policy of equal\ntreatment for immigrant children and youth in 
 the juvenile justice\nsystem.  The media scandalized policies which sought 
 to reunite\nimmigrant children and youth with their families urging that 
 they should\ninstead be turned over to federal authorities.\n\nAs a result 
 Mayor Gavin Newsom has declared his intention to change San\nFrancisco 
 protocols in regard to immigrant children and youth, making\nthem more 
 vulnerable to Immigrant and Custom Enforcement (ICE) detention\nand 
 deportation. In response, immigrants' and youth rights\norganizations have 
 asked the Mayor to uphold San Francisco's\nSanctuary Ordinance and not 
 succumb to anti-immigrant pressure and\nhysteria.\n\n\n\nThis event is
