DESCRIPTION:This special interactive program, an essential part of Mierle Laderman 
 Ukeles’s vision for her installation for the exhibition In the Beginning: 
 Artists Respond to Genesis (through January 4, 2009), reflects the 
 artist’s view that art is a public collaboration between the artist and 
 the visitor. Visitors will have a chance to remove a mirror from the 
 installation, and put in its place a "covenant,” in which the visitor 
 promises to do works of goodwill after leaving the Museum. As a reminder of 
 this promise, each visitor will take home one of the handmade mirrors made 
 exclusively for this installation.\n
