DESCRIPTION:Zimbabwe Community Dialogue \n\nWednesday July 2nd at 6:00 pm\n\nAt the
Neibyl Proctor Library, 6100 Telegraph Avenue in Oakland\n\nSpeaker:
Phillip Machingura\nModerator: Nunu Kidane, Priority Africa Network\n\nThe
aftermath of the March 29th elections in Zimbabwe have shaken the country
to the core. The violence that has erupted, repression of opposition party
members & activists and ensuring debates on who’s won by what margin
continue to destabilize the country.\n\nIn mid April, Priority Africa
Network held a community briefing on Zimbabwe – with Phillip Machingura,
PAN founding member and native of Zimbabwe, and facilitated by Nesbit
Cruchfield. \n\nPhillip Machingura, gave a comprehensive report of what is
happening in the current political battles to gain the parliamentary and
presidential powers and prospects for moving forward in the months
ahead.\n\nThe format is informative and education, starting from basic
overview of the history of Zimbabwe. This dialogue will be held three days
after the re-run elections scheduled for June 27, 2008. \n\nThe regular
PAN community dialogues bring together diverse Africa-interested activists
to gain common understanding from sound analysis and resources for
engagement.\n\nThis event is sponsored by Priority Africa Network, it is
free and open to the public.\n\nLight refreshments will be served, please
 come on time.\n\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2008/06/10/18505794.php
