407-2000\n \nKLAMATH RIVER TRIBES HOST WLD SALMON BAKE TO\nKICK OFF SALMON
AID EVENT\n \nWHAT: Members of the Karuk, Yurok, and Hoopa Tribes host
traditional salmon bake on eve of Salmon Aid. Tribal drummers and singers
will perform and share fire roasted Klamath Spring Salmon with the
public.\n \nWHERE: Ocean Beach, San Francisco. Look for the fire pit one
block south of the intersection of Fulton Street and the Great Highway.\n
\nWHEN: Friday, May 30. Fire starts at 4:30 p.m.; fish will be ready to
serve around 6:30 p.m.\n \nWHO: Participants include fishermen, cooks,
singers, and drummers from the Karuk, Yurok, and Hoopa Tribes.\n \nMembers
of Klamath Basin Tribes want to show their support for Salmon Aid by
hosting a traditional salmon bake on the eve of the event. Although Klamath
salmon runs are dwindling, tribal fishermen still harvest salmon for
ceremonial and commercial use. By joining forces with commercial fishermen,
conservation groups, and others concerned about native salmon stocks,
Tribal members hope to build support for the removal of the lower four
Klamath River dams.\n \nSince ocean salmon fishing is banned this year and
the Klamath is the only river where salmon fishing will be allowed, this
may be the only chance many will get to taste fresh wild salmon this
year.\n \nSalmon Aid will be held at Jack London Square in Oakland, Ca May
 31 – June 1.\nSee: http://www.salmonaid.org/\n \nFor more information on
the struggle to remove Klamath Dams
