DESCRIPTION:Dear Everyone,\n\nOn Tuesday May 27, at noon, in front of the offices of 
 the San\nFrancisco Chronicle, I and several other members of the 
 California\nImpeachment Slate  will hold a press\nconference to get out the 
 word that, in twenty districts statewide,\npro-impeachment candidates are 
 challenging the passive incumbents in\nthe US House of Representatives. The 
 Chronicle offices are located at\n901 Mission (Fifth and Mission Streets) 
 in San Francisco. There is a\nBART stop one block away and an inexpensive 
 parking garage directly\nacross the street. Many of you work downtown, and 
 we've scheduled this\nat lunch hour, hoping that you might join us.\n\nAt 
 this press conference, we will also issue an invitation to Monica\nConyers, 
 spouse of House Judiciary Committee Chair John Conyers,\nasking her to join 
 us -- asking her to run for her husband's seat.\n(Read our invitation

 Please.)\n\nDear Ms. Conyers,\n\nThe members of the California Impeachment 
 Slate applaud your\ncourageous stand for impeachment. And we invite you to 
 take an even\nbolder step: Will you please run for Congress on a 
 pro-impeachment\nplatform with us? Yes, please run for the seat currently 
 held by your\nhusband, the Honorable John Conyers, Chair of the House 
 Judiciary\nCommittee.\n\nFor several years, Mr. Conyers was the brightest 
 light, the strongest\nand most eloquent voice in the impeachment movement. 
 We read his books\ndetailing the "High Crimes of the Bush Administration." 
 We applauded\nhis "Blueprint for Impeachment." Many of us worked feverishly 
 to get\nDemocrats elected, and when Congress went Democratic in November 
 2006,\nwe were ecstatic.\n\nBut the votes had barely even been counted when 
 Mr. Conyers suddenly\nreversed direction, suddenly went all Nancy Pelosi on 
 us: "Impeachment\nis off-the-table." We were crushed.\n\nThen, in May 2007, 
 we took great heart from the pro-impeachment\nresolution that you 
 introduced in front of the Detroit City Council.\nWhen it was passed 
 unanimously, excited emails and phone calls flew\nthrough the impeachment 
 movement. "Here...," we said to each other,\n"Here is a woman with some 
 guts."\n\nWe still believe the things we read in your husband's books. 
 This\ntime of national and international crisis calls not for 
 back-stepping,\nbut for forward-stepping. We believe that you, Ms. Conyers, 
 are a\nforward-stepping woman. And we invite you to join us.\n\nWe 
 recognize the personal difficulties this might cause you and your\nfamily. 
 But the crimes of the Bush administration have jeopardized\nfamilies across 
 the country: some of our marriages have been put under\ntremendous strain; 
 some of us have lost offspring in the illegal war;\nand the whole world has 
 seen our looted economy bouncing against the\nropes.\n\nWe believe that the 
 people of Detroit will respond loudly and proudly\nto a Monica Conyers for 
 Congress announcement. We also believe that\nyour husband will be 
 moved.\n\nPoliticians are not meant to hold office forever. When a 
 politician\ncomes upon a job too challenging to face, he or she should step 
 aside\nin favor of someone who is not afraid to act.\n\nWe think that YOU 
 are that someone, Ms. Conyers. And we invite you to\njoin us.\n\nWith 
 utmost sincerity and respect for you and your husband, and above\nall for
