DESCRIPTION:Peace and Gay Pride -  Sunday, June 1st!\n\nCalling all PeaceWorkers in the 
 Santa Cruz Peace Community!\n\nPlease step forward with your Best, 
 Brightest, and Most Creative \nRegalia for the Gay Pride Parade on Sunday 
 June 1st!!!!!!\n\nParade in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the 
 LGBT \ncommunity!\nWe were there last year, and got a great 
 reception!\nLet's do it again and bring lots of our friends along!\nThe 
 Parade is followed by an all day Festival at San Lorenzo Park!\n\nA little 
 story:\nOne of the most moving experiences I ever had on the Good Cause 
 Trail was at the March on Washington (a Gay Pride March) in 1991 in 
 Washington DC - over 250,00 people from all over the country were there 
 marching!\n\nMy partner and I were sitting in front of the White House, 
 watching the March go by, and waiting for the Santa Cruz contingent to come 
 along so that we could jump in and walk with them.\n\nAs we watched, the 
 crowd was cheering, clapping and hooting for various groups, and then a 
 group of Military Personnel started flowing by - they were both active 
 duty, and veterans, and most were in uniform.\n\nOne man, with long graying 
 hair, in a very faded uniform, carried a really large, handwritten sign. It 
 said:\n\n                                "Veteran of Vietnam.\n             
          They gave me a medal for killing three men.\n                    
 They dishonorably discharged me for loving another."\n\nThe whole audience 
 turned to complete, silent awe as he paraded by - and then slowly, one by 
 one, erupted into loud applause and energetic "thank yous!"\n\nSO, Step Up 
 and Out on June 1st! - you'll be glad you are there!\nMaybe there will even 
 be a marriage ceremony or two!!\n\nWear rainbow colors and be 
 outrageous!\nBring signs and banners, and make your own thoughtful 
 signs!\nAnd bring your friends and family too!\n\nMeet at 10:30AM at the 
 corner of Pacific and Cathcart.\nLook for the Big Red and Yellow Sun of the 
 SC Peace Coalition,\nand the colorful hats and costumes of the Raging 
 Grannies!!!\n\nPeace Now, and Always, for All Beings, Everywhere!\nSherry
