DESCRIPTION:SPEAKER BLOWOUT is an annual UCSC event organized by students to create 
 social, cultural, and political awareness surrounding issues that affect 
 our communities. Previous speakers for this event [including Jesse Jackson, 
 Bobby Seale, Saul Williams, and Chuck D] have addressed issues regarding 
 race and access to education.\n\nWHO WILL BE SPEAKING AND PERFORMING AT 
 THIS YEAR'S SPEAKER BLOWOUT??\n\nISE LYFE, performer/activist/spoken word 
 artist coming out of Oakland, California!\n\n“…He might someday take 
 over Mos Def’s mantle as Hip-Hop’s activist poet 
 laureate”\n–Seattle Weekly\n\nIse fuses Spoken Word and Hip Hop to 
 deconstructing the facade of dominant narratives. Rising from the streets 
 of Oakland, California, Ise has been featured in Youth Speaks National 
 Poetry Slam and Russell Simmons' Def Poetry Jam on HBO!!\n\nStriving to 
 prevent youth from following the same \n\nIse also co-founded the 
 P.O.W.E.R. Movement, an Oakland-based organization that addresses the 
 educational, social and political needs of young people, among being 
 involved in several other community organizations serving under-resourced 
 youth. \n\nAND!!!\n\nREBEL DIAZ, progressive hip-hop group based out of 
 Chicago and currently residing in New York!\n\nRebel Diaz - the 
 in-your-face trio out of Chicago mix strong political statements with their 
 dynamic flow and character.\nThis opportunity to speak to the masses began 
 as a direct extension of their political work in the South Bronx, where 
 they currently organize around immigration, education and housing 
 issues.\n\nToday, Rebel Diaz travels throughout the world performing and 
 organizing, using Hip Hop as a tool for education and social
