 Watsonville\n“Latinos & 2008 Elections: The Real Issues”\n\nMatt
Gonzalez (2008 Candidate for Vice President)\nPeter Camejo (Candidate for
CA Governor- 4 times)\n& Students of Watsonville\n\nWHEN: Tuesday, April
 29, 2008\nWHERE: Veterans Memorial Hall\n215 East Beach
 Street\nWatsonville, California, 95076\nTIME: 4-5:30PM\nEVENT CONTACT:
jennlaskin@gmail.com\n\nThree real issues of importance currently affecting
young Latinos are the Economic Crisis, Immigration, and the Rising Cost of
Education. \n\nPlease come meet Matt Gonzalez, the former President of the
San Francisco Board of Supervisors and currently, the ONLY Latino running
in the 2008 Presidential elections as the running mate of Ralph
Nadar.\n\nWhen serving as President of the Board of Supervisors, Matt
raised the minimum wage in San Francisco. He also worked to create an
official ID card that gives undocumented workers official recognition in
their community. \n\nMatt will be speaking to young people about the
immense power of being Latino in the United States today. He will discuss
the power and importance of the vote and all aspects of community
involvement and the political process. He will share his own
story.\n\nPeter Camejo is a 4 time candidate for Governor of California
and author of the book, California Under Corporate Rule. He organized the
first national pro-immigrant conference in 1971 and continues to be in the
forefront of the Immigrant Rights movement. He will discuss the budget
crisis in California and explain why he believes we do NOT HAVE A BUDGET
CRISIS…just an unfair taxation system. \n\nPeter will talk about the
state of education and the prison system. He believes that all people have
the right to go to college. How is the 3 strikes law inherently unfair and
expensive? Peter is passionate about teaching young Latinos about the
power of the Latino vote and wants to see that power ACTIVATED in our
neighborhoods. \n\nTHIS IS NOT A CAMPAIGN EVENT!\nTHIS IS A COMMUNITY
 EVENT!\n\nPIZZA AND DRINKS SERVED!\nFREE!\n\n\n\n\n\n
