 number of 170 artists will be opening their \ndoors to the public. Come out 
 and gain a new appreciation for \nthe arts, meet artists personally, buy

 encounter with \nthis unique and continually evolving artist community. \n 
 \nNestled along a private stretch of the scenic San Francisco Bay, \nthe 
 dramatic historic setting of this Open Studio is a former naval \nshipyard. 
 With over 250 studios spread out across 8 buildings, the \nreclaimed 
 buildings are now ideal incubators for the artists who \nhave called this 
 place home for more than two decades. As plans\nfor the Shipyard's 
 redevelopment continue, the artists' colony is \npleased to remain a 
 prominent part of San Francisco's vision for \nthe site. \n \nSeveral 
 Shipyard artists will hold preview parties on May 2, in \naddition to the 
 main event in Gallery 101. A list of preview parties \nand their locations 
 will be available in the Shipyard Art Guide.\n\nA Family-Friendly event, 
 Open Studios features inviting outdoors \nareas along the Bay and on-site 
 food vendors, enabling visitors to \nspend all day perusing this unique
