DESCRIPTION:What? Democracy in Cuba?!?\n\nA talk by\nArnold August\nAuthor, Democracy
in Cuba\n\nThanks to anti-Cuba propaganda, most Americans still don't
realize that Cuba holds regular elections at all levels of government,
local through national. With U.S. interest in meddling in Cuba at an
all-time high because of Fidel Castro's departure from power, it is
especially important that activists in particular know more about Cuba's
democratic system. \n\nFew people in North America know that system as well
as Canadian scholar and activist Arnold August, who has spent decades
researching its unique organization and has written many articles and a
well-respected book on the subject. He recently spent several months in
Cuba working on his forthcoming book Cuba: Participatory Democracy and
Elections in the 21st Century.\n\nFree (contributions will be requested).
Sponsored by Peninsula Peace and Justice Center, the International
Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban Five, and Womens International
League for Peace and Freedom - Peninsula Branch.\n
