Saint,” the premier of a documentary film about Dorothy Day (1897-1980),

Watsonville, and Dorothy’s Place in Salinas.\n\nMs. Day, world renowned
humanitarian activist often compared to Mother Teresa, has been nominated
for sainthood by some Catholics in spite of her personally unconventional
life (revealed for the first time in this film) and her own protest.\n\nThe
film begins at the height of the depression with radical journalist Dorothy
Day meeting French peasant philosopher, Peter Maurin. Together they
organized the Catholic Worker, a lay-person peace, justice and homeless
hospitality movement.\n\nToday over 185 Catholic Worker communities world
wide are committed to nonviolence, voluntary poverty, prayer, and
hospitality for the homeless, exiled, hungry, and forsaken. Catholic
Workers continue to protest injustice, war, racism, and violence of all
forms.\n\nThe film includes many candid images by Watsonville
photojournalist Bob Fitch who will provide commentary and lead discussion
after the film presentation.\n\nThe event is sponsored by the Watsonville
branch of the Women’s \nInternational League for Peace & Freedom
 (WILPF).\n\nMORE INFORMATION:\n\nOrganization
