DESCRIPTION:Sam Green introduced a new generation to the radical 1960s group the
Weathermen with his 2002 film The Weather Underground, but de Antonio first
highlighted the group in 1976’s Underground. The film features
clandestine interviews with the group’s elusive members, as well as
footage from works by Saul Landau, Chris Marker, Third World Newsreel, and
Jane Fonda’s Indochina Peace Campaign, creating a concise overview of the
period’s social unrest and activism. In the King of Prussia turns its
attention on the Plowshares 8, a Catholic pacifist group led by Father
Daniel Berrigan, and its 1980 action against a General Electric nuclear
weapons plant in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Shot on videotape and
intended as an organizing tool for the nuclear-freeze movement, this film
departs from de Antonio’s signature compilation technique. Filmmaker
Green introduces the program.\n\n$5 general, students, and seniors. Double
features: films offered on the same date are included in one ticket.
Program tickets are available at the Museum (no surcharge) or through
 www.sfmoma.org/tickets (surcharge applies).\n\n\n
