DESCRIPTION:ANARCHY AND ART\nA Presentation by Allan Antliff\nTuesday, November 13 at
 7:00 PM\nAK Press / 674-A 23rd Street, Oakland\n\nAllan Antliff will be
joining us to give a visual presentation addressing some of the themes in
his most recent book, ANARCHY AND ART. Antliff will discuss moments of
engagement when artists, poets, philosophers, and critics have confronted
pivotal events over the past 140 years, from the Paris Commune to the fall
of the Soviet empire. Exploring art’s potential as a vehicle for
meaningful social change from an anarchist perspective, this presentation
will throw new light on what it means to be radical.\n\nAntliff is the
Canada Research Chair in Modern Art at the University of Victoria. He has a
long history of activism in the anarchist movement and has written
extensively for the anarchist press in North America. Art editor for the
UK-based journal, ANARCHIST STUDIES, he is also author of ANARCHIST
MODERNISM and editor of ONLY A BEGINNING: AN ANARCHIST\nANTHOLOGY.\n
