 a janitor at the Word Trade Center for 20 years and was the last person to 
 exit the North Tower on Sept. 11. He single-handedly rescued 15 people from 
 the WTC; using his master key, he led firefighters up the stairwell, 
 unlocking doors and aiding the evacuation of hundreds. \n\nRodriguez was 
 vocal in calling for an immediate investigation into what occurred on Sept. 
 11 and testified behind closed doors to the 9/11 Commission. His testimony 
 was omitted from their report. \n\nRodriguez continues to bring attention 
 to the health concerns of thousands of first responders now sick with 
 "Ground Zero Syndrome." In addition, Rodriguez helped Latino survivors and 
 relatives of victims of the attacks who were not receiving help due to 
 cultural and linguistic barriers. William was also a major force behind the 
 campaign to encourage non-documented immigrant survivors and relatives of 
 victims to come forward for help without fear of deportation. \n\nEvent
