DESCRIPTION:Friday, Oct 19, 4:00 PM\nCritical Mass and March\nthrough the Financial
District \nMeet @ Market Street & Montgomery Street\nBring your signs,
drums, noisemakers, lungs and passion!\nNote: No arrests are planned\n\nOn
October 19 IMF thugs will be meeting in Washington DC. Lively
demonstrations will be taking place outside to call for the abolition of
the IMF. Let's stand in solidarity with our friends in Washington DC and
protest this harmful institution here in San Francisco!\n\nIf you have a
bicycle, bring it and ride. If not, wear your walking shoes and join us on
the march!\n\nWhat is the IMF? One of the most powerful institutions in the
world. \nThe International Monetary Fund (IMF) is a brutal loan shark. It
says it helps countries by lending them money to repay their international
bank debt. But before it loans out one cent, the IMF forces countries to
get rid of social services like healthcare, education, and public water and
electricity, and it instructs countries to get rid of environmental
protections. The result is massive instability and millions of poor people
being driven into hunger and desperation. Even in countries like Zimbabwe,
where out-of-control inflation rates mean widespread food shortages, the
IMF has cut off aid and wants the Zimbabwean government not to give its
citizens food or other support. Furthermore, after sixty years of furious
IMF lending, research has shown that the IMF does not even lead to economic
growth. The only ones who truly benefit are the bankers, after the IMF
bleeds their money, plus interest, out of the world's poorest
 countries.\n\nLearn more at www.globalizethissf.org.\n
