DESCRIPTION:Shadya, a film on Israel-Palestine\n\nin conversation with Manar 
 Azriek\n\nThe film portrays Israeli society through the eyes of a seventeen 
 year-old  Muslim Palestinian karate champion. Shadya, the main character of 
 the film, is forced to fight for her independence in a patriarchal society 
 that refuses to allow a young girl to lead a life she chooses.\n\nManar 
 Azriek grew up in a Palestinian family that was expelled from their  
 village, Ellabon, during the 1948 war, and was able to return to Israel. 
 Ms. Azriek was the National Judo Champion of Israel from 1988-1994. She has 
 been working with Palestinian and Israeli youth as a teacher enabling 
 dialogue both in Israel and internationally, toward healing and
