DESCRIPTION:Uses of Language\nIn this lecture we are going to address questions such as
the following: Is language a reflection of reality, an instrument for
self-expression, or a means of communication. Is it possible to reach a
consensus based on the force of the better argument rather than the force
of the one who is stronger? Is it possible to agree on the right course of
action through a rational dialogue or we have to accept that agreements and
rational dialogues are nothing but the code names for oppression? Is it
possible to be an equal partner in the discussion regarding our interaction
with others or dialogue is merely a masked form of domination. Are force
and tradition the only mechanisms for the coordination of action or action
can be coordinated through language. Sponsored by the Institute for the
 Critical Study of Society\n\n\n
