DESCRIPTION:Staff Report from http://www.marinij.com/marin\nPt. Reyes form to discuss
 grazing rules\nStaff Report\nArticle Launched: 08/20/2007 11:28:29 PM
PDT\n\nNew regulations for grazing lands will be the subject of a 6 p.m.
Thursday public workshop at The Dance Palace, at corner of 5th and B
streets in Point Reyes Station.\nThe forum, hosted by the California
Regional Water Quality Control Board, will discuss state requirements for
controlling water pollution from .\n\nThose requirements are an attempt to
reduce contamination of the waters of Tomales Bay by disease-causing
microbes. The source of that contamination, according to the state, could
be runoff from residential areas, failing septic systems, boat discharge
and agricultural runoff from dairies and ranch lands.\n\nThe problem is
especially acute because of Tomales Bay's shellfish industry, as well as
its role as a destination for swimmers and boaters.\n\nTo fight the bay's
contamination, the state plans to introduce increased regulation of grazing
lands through waste discharge requirements.\n\nLocal paper point reyes
