DESCRIPTION:A highly acclaimed film, “TRANSFORMER” is a journey into the subjective
and conceptual worlds of German artist Joseph Beuys. The film draws on
Beuys’ iconoclastic and controversial oeuvre spanning the twentieth
century, to motivate social awareness and creative responsibility. \n\nThe
screening will be held in conversation with director John Halpern, whose
work models innovation in aesthetic and cross-cultural representation.
Halpern’s films include “REFUGE”, a portrayal of contemporary
North-South/East-West histories of Buddhism.\n\nIntroduced by Angana
Chatterji and Richard Shapiro for \nThe Social and Cultural Anthropology
Program, California Institute of Integral Studies\n\n
