DESCRIPTION:At a special hearing on August 27th, the Emeryville City Council can vote 
 to end the bitter year-long conflict at the Woodfin Suites Hotel by 
 ordering the hotel to pay workers their back wages. But the Woodfin has 
 already suggested that it will try to delay the process indefinitely. Join 
 us at the hearing to tell the Council to hold strong and put an end to the 
 conflict right then and there.  \n\nWorkers at the Woodfin Suites Hotel 
 have been struggling for a year to win their rights under Emeryville’s 
 living wage law – while hotel managers have stalled endlessly in turning 
 over wage records to the city. In June, the City of Emeryville finally 
 ordered the hotel to pay workers about $250,000 in back wages. But instead 
 of paying up, the hotel got a pricey anti-union law firm to appeal the 
 order. On August 27th, the City will hold a hearing to consider the 
 Woodfin’s appeal and make a decision about how much the hotel must pay 
 its workers, and when.\n\nWhile Woodfin lawyers have threatened to drag the 
 process out further, workers are urging the Council to make a final 
 decision and hold the Woodfin accountable for obeying it. In a letter to 
 Mayor Nora Davis, former Woodfin worker, Luz D. wrote, “This is too much, 
 what we’re going through and suffering. We’re just waiting to see a 
 light ahead of us on the path, and this light is you on the Council. You 
 have the power in your hands to make the Woodfin pay us what it 
 owes.”\n\nPlease join us for a rally outside Emeryville’s City Hall on 
 August 27th at 6 pm, then stay for the hearing at 7 pm. Help us send a 
 strong message to the City that justice delayed is justice denied. The time 
 has come to end the bitter year-long conflict and get the workers their
