DESCRIPTION:The Crisis in our Democracy: \n  Sacramento Progressive   Forum\n\n October 
 4, 2007.   CSU-Sacramento.  University Union \n\nJoin us for a dialogue on 
 current issues facing the progressive movements and their allies in our 
 region.  The Progressive Forum seeks to  bring together scholars, students, 
 social justice and union activists, and  policy  makers.  The forum  is 
 created to nurture  a  new kind of conversation  from within the campus and 
 the social movements.  We seek to move beyond the overly fragmented 
 movements each competing with each other to find ways to cooperate and 
 support each others work. \n This gathering aims to enhance personal and 
 organizational ties between those engaged in ongoing workplace and 
 community organizing efforts, issues organizing  and students and 
 scholars.. The forum should become a  place where the diverse movements  
 gathers their  energies and where activists  learn  from internal dialogue. 
  This is an initial step toward elaborating, discussing  and debating our 
 visions and ours strategies. \nIf you wish to propose a session at the 
 forum, please send your proposal to Duane Campbell, campd@csus.edu.  
 Proposals are welcome until August 15. \nThe key thematic areas for the 
 Fall 2007  Forum  will include: \n	Immigration\n	The War\n	Democratic 
 Party\n	Media and democracy\n	Crisis in public education\n	Race/ ethnicity  
  and the political organizing . \n	Corporatization of University/ decline 
 of public universities\n	Women’s work: Women’s issues \n	Working class 
 life and culture\n	The state of our unions\n\nSpeakers.\nBreak out rooms .
