12-4 pm\n\n\nThe Three-Minute Film Festival was created by the visionary
Chris Baty, who had a dream of getting people to spend 30 days embracing
the spirit of uncritical invention. Participants have 30 days to write,
produce, and edit a 3-minute film. They reap the rewards at the Black Tie
Gala and Film Screening where audience members decide the award-winning
films. This year is the 5th Annual Three-Minute Film Festival, and the
festivities will kick-off with a retrospective of winning films of yore and
end with a live performance by Peloton. On view will be new photos by San
Francisco artist and last year’s film fest award winner, Daniel
Nolan*.\n\nABOUT ROOT DIVISION:\nRoot Division is an arts and arts
education non-profit located in the Mission District of San Francisco. Root
Division acts as an ecosystem for artists in that we provide subsidized
studio space to working artists in exchange for their service in the
organization. While creating opportunities for individuals to develop both
creatively & professionally, Root Division promotes creative expression and
builds community through having these artists teach art in after school
programs, lead adult education classes, and produce special events that
showcase local emerging artists. It is in these connections between
artistic exploration and public engagement that we spark the powerful
synergy between personal inspiration and social change.\n\nRoot Division is
supported in part by grants from the San Francisco Foundation, the Walter &
Elise Haas Sr Fund, and by a charitable gift from the Kanbar Charitable
Trust administered by the Jewish Community Endowment Fund. The Second
Saturday Exhibition Series is sponsored by the Phyllis C. Wattis Foundation
and the Zellerbach Family Foundation.\n\nFor further information regarding
events and/or press materials, please do not hesitate to contact Michael
 Krouse at 415.863.7668 or events@rootdivision.org.\n
