DESCRIPTION:Enjoy Living History with the Living History Players' dramatiztion of the
1901 San Francisco Waterfront Strike at the Hyde Street Pier. Witness a
recreation of the strike that shut down the San Francisco waterfront from
July 13 to October 2 1901, and resulted after its conclusion in the general
acceptance and growth of labor unions throughout the city.\nLiving History
Players take roles as striking seamen and teamsters demonstrating on the
pier, carrying picket signs and distributing leaflets, with impassioned
speeches calling for unity and brotherhood, and theatrical confrontations
with employers and shipowners. With the backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge
the envigorating sea breezes, Aquatic Park's swimming and picnic facilities
next door and your favorite seafood and liabations at every nearby
restaurant, this is drama al fresco that should make for an outstanding
Summer Saturday in San Francisco. (Note: A small gate fee is required to
 enter the pier.) \n
