DESCRIPTION:This intensive, five day course is the heart of Bay Area Wilderness 
 Training's programs. It is designed to give you the tools you need to take 
 youth on multi-day backpacking adventures.  Completion of the course allows 
 you free access to our equipment loan system. The training consists of a 
 mandatory pre-trip meeting in San Francisco on June 16 and five days of 
 backpacking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains June 25-29. You will learn about 
 proper clothing, basic wilderness first aid, nutrition, equipment use, map 
 & compass reading, leadership styles, group dynamics and more. Role plays 
 are utilized to allow for a realistic back-country leadership experience. 
 Participants will learn by doing! Food and transportation are provided. (No
