DESCRIPTION:DOUBLE FEATURE \n\nSUSTAINABLE FUTURES \n\nThis film takes us to seven
communities in three countries where sustainability is a high priority.
French farmers and Canadians share their insights. In El Paso, Texas
activists are teaching farm workers about the dangers of pesticides. In
Chicago, Friends of the River are finding that native Chicagoans are eager
to help clean up the river and its banks. In Mexico, educators and
activists are creating sustainable communities. A team of Canadians and
Americans are shown working together to restore and regenerate a stream.
Each segment of the film demonstrates the enthusiasm and the personal
satisfaction that is engendered by the participants who are working
together for the common purpose of upgrading their environment and
surroundings. \n\nTHE LIVING LAND \n\nThree organic food growers and a
famous chef (Alice Waters) change common agricultural and consuming
practices to get away from agribusiness which leads to soil erosion and
food contaminated. There is now an ever-increasing awareness of the need to
change our perception about how we grow our food and how we treat the land.
\n\nBefore and after the film, everyone is welcome to indulge in our
Humanist Tea House. \n\n$5 donations are accepted \n\n
